Mayor of Płock visits Aquapark construction site

Mr. Andrzej Nowakowski - Mayor of Płock, visited the Aquapark construction site together with representatives of the city authorities and journalists. The guests were shown around the building by Marcin Krzykwa, Site Manager. To the satisfaction of the city authorities, the construction process is advancing according to plan, and the modern water park is taking shape. It will be completed at the beginning of next year and soon the city will gain a new landmark.

The Aquapark is being built as a public-private partnership project. The aim of the project is to provide the residents of the city and the region with access to year-round, multifunctional sports and water recreation infrastructure. The area around the recreation center will also undergo transformation - for many years the Miodowa housing estate was one of the most neglected parts of Płock.

‘Our construction project has been positively evaluated, which makes us happy,’ reports Tomasz Sierzputowski from Warbud. ‘Our work is going very smoothly. On December 6, 2022, we completed the construction works and the tower of the building was topped out. In January this year the building was in the form of a closed-in shell. What has been done so far? We have completed fitting the top roof layers and fitting the façade on two of the four walls of the building (their completion is scheduled for mid-June). The stainless walls of the pool basins and the steel supporting structure for the external water slides are ready. We have completed the plastering work. We have also installed internal door frames and we already connected water, sewage and gas to the buildingWe are currently fitting the slides, flooring layers on the beaches around the swimming pools and assembling swimming pool water systems,’ explains T. Sierzputowski. ‘We have already installed expansion tanks and filters for swimming pool basins, pipelines and risers as well as main installation connections. We are now preparing to install the island ceiling in the swimming pool hall and the assemble stainless steel bottoms in the basins.’

Interesting facts about the facility:

  • The starting point of the highest slide will be located at the height of the 7th floor - 21m above ground level;
  • The surface area of the water table is 1200 sq. m, i.e. 1/3 of the water surface of the Suntago water park;
  • The largest element of the wooden roof supporting structure delivered to the construction site was 31 meters long – it is almost half the width of a football pitch;
  • A quarter of a mile (403 m) - this is exactly the overall length of the 4 slides installed in the building;
  • 20 m³ of water will fill the two-sided indoor aquarium with Lake Malawi style;
  • 36 people will be able to stay at the same time in four jacuzzi bathtubs;
  • 600 lockers will be installed in the co-educational locker room located between the reception and the shower area.
