Entrepreneurship Day with Warbud S.A.

On March 20 a group of fifteen students from Stanisław Noakowski Secondary Technical School of Architecture and Construction in Warsaw visited our office in Warsaw. As part of the 16th edition of the Entrepreneurship Day program, the young people were able to get acquainted with jobs in such departments as: Tendering Department, Planning and Scheduling Department, Structural Design Team and Implementation Department. During a few-hour visit, the students got to know the specificity of work, the scope of duties, everyday tasks and what the necessary skills to perform work in a specific position. This year we also decided to briefly introduce the new concept of BIM - building information modelling which has revolutionized the approach to design, project implementation and building management. The students were very involved and inquisitive, they asked a lot of questions which our representatives willingly answered.

‘In the meeting we discussed every stage of the construction process, including tendering, negotiating, signing the contract, accepting the facility by the state authorities and the investor. I tried to convey the most important things which I think should be paid attention to during the above-mentioned individual stages. Most of the students were interested in the subject of construction and actively participated in the discussion asking questions on a regular basis and curiously listening to the answers. In the meeting I also encouraged them to choose their careers in the construction industry saying that the work is interesting and gives a lot of satisfaction, a possibility of personal and professional development and a chance to create buildings and structures which make up our landscape. In my opinion, meetings should be conducted showing young people the directions and opportunities for work in the future,’ said Paweł Opiłowski, contract manager.

The annual initiative of the Youth Entrepreneurship Foundation brings many benefits to students as it is a unique opportunity to get acquainted with a given workplace, thanks to which the young people have a chance to see whether they really like the job. This is a huge dose of valuable advice that will definitely be useful in choosing your future career path.

‘We also had the pleasure to meet with the construction manager and become familiar with the scope of his duties and responsibilities. In addition, Ms. Iwona Kotlińska (specialist in human resources management) also organized a meeting with structural designers who presented two large projects that are currently being implemented, described the structures, the applied technical solutions and the software they use at work. We believe that the Entrepreneurship Day brought us closer to the professions in the construction industry which we can choose in the future, we have received a lot of practical information which we would not be given in our schools,’ we heard from the technical school students.
