Aircraft hangar in Bydgoszcz gets a prize in the competition 'Budowa na Medal Pomorza i Kujaw 2016'

A hangar for cargo and passenger aircraft with an aircraft apron built in Bydgoszcz by Warbud has been chosen as the winner of the competition 'Budowa na Medal Pomorza i Kujaw 2016' (Top Construction Project of Pomerania and Kujawy Province). The awards gala took place on October 24 in the Raspberry Hall of the "Pod Orłem" Hotel in Bydgoszcz. The basic criteria for choosing the winners are the usefulness and innovativeness of the architectural and functional solutions, quality of construction as well as aesthetic, ecological and economic aspects of projects.

The building erected in the area of the aviation works is 24.95 m high, 116.9 m wide and 65.5 m long. The height of the double-leaf gate is 17 m.

The new hangar is made of two parts. The first part is a modern paint shop for among others passenger planes. Its dimensions allow for painting even the largest single-aisle passenger aircraft such as Boeing 737-900ER and Airbus A321. In total the hall can accommodate up to three smaller aircraft at a time, such as ATR-72.

The service hall with an area of 3650 m2 has been designed to make inspections of passenger planes with a size of large-frame aircraft such as Boeing 767-300ER.

Both halls have a special aircraft washing system utilising hot water under pressure. Industrial waste water is sent to the plant's sewage treatment station. In addition to that workers' amenities and technical rooms were built with an area of 2 000 m2.
