Social Security Institution ZUS to finance periodic OHS trainings for construction workers

Thanks to the cooperation between the Agreement on Construction Safety presided by Warbud for the next two years and the Social Security Institution (ZUS), construction entrepreneurs will have a chance to offer to their employees free of charge professional OHS trainings.

The target group

In autumn this year in all Polish regions free-of charge periodic trainings will be run especially for small and medium-sized construction companies operating in the Polish market. Their programmes are adjusted to the needs and character of the construction trade and are addressed to all site workers regardless of the form of their employment as well as to all persons taking part in the execution of construction work (heavy equipment operators, truck drivers, warehouse keepers or site maintenance workers).  The programme of the OHS workshops sponsored by ZUS was developed on the basis of professional experience of Poland's ten largest general contractors - members of the Agreement on Construction Safety. It is based on the standards established by the Agreement and tested and regularly updated training materials.

The topics of the trainings cover line works and construction of enclosed buildings. Experienced trainers guide participants step by step in an interactive and interesting way through various aspects of safe work in a range of production workplaces. The workers will find out how to plan their work, what to be careful of, how to react in unforeseen situation and what order to leave their workplaces after completing work. The knowledge and the necessary skills will be presented in the form of practical workshops and the participants of the trainings should not be bored.

Safety first

Despite the fact that organising occupational health and safety trainings for workers is an obligation of every employee following from the regulation of the Minister of Economy and Labour of 27 July 2004 on trainings in the field of occupational health and safety (Journal of Laws No. 180 item 1860 with amendments) - in a common opinion safety trainings are treated as only an unnecessary formality and not a real need.

However, a genuine training which is organized in an original way is an enormous chance for increasing the knowledge and awareness of safety risks among workers. This is also a basis for building a safe work environment on each construction site in Poland. Well-trained workers are able to predict results of their actions, protect their own health and life as well as health and lives of their co-workers. Another benefit is a reduced risk of damage or destruction of machinery and personal protective equipment which in turn lower the probability of a fine from the State Labour Inspectorate (PIP) for non-observance of safety standards. It is good to get prepared!

Applications

Trainings which will be organised in the period from August to end of November 2016 will be fully financed by ZUS from the Institution's prevention fund and there will be no additional conditions for the companies to meet in order to take part in the courses. It is though good to hurry up - it is assumed that 200 workers will be trained in every region of Poland and participation will be based on the order of applications.

You can enrol to a training right now! Just call 790 377 329 or 22 618 64 35. Beginning on 12 August 2016 applications will be sent only electronically via the website www.feuer.pl/darmowe-szkolenia-ZUS or by e-mail: szkolenia.zus@feuer.pl

Recommendations

The training programme approved by the State Labour Inspection has received recommendations from Polish Association of Construction Employers PZPB and "Budowlani" Trade Union. The trainings organized upon request of Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) are run only by the company Feuer Sp. z o.o.
