 | Help for Filip
Urgent appeals for the collection of funds to cover the costs of operation and rehabilitation for Filip – a blind Warsaw University student who fell under an incoming underground train – have been published since mid September 2008. Filip, who was in very serious state, with head injuries and crushed legs, was transported to one of Warsaw’s hospitals. Filip’s life was saved despite his very serious injuries. He required a long and expensive therapy in Poland and abroad. In Poland money was collected to finance medical procedures. We had an opportunity to help in a man in great need. We are keeping are fingers crossed that the therapy and rehabilitation will be successful and that Filip will be able to develop his interests and passions after coming back home. Filip is very active not only in the student society, but he also joins in many actions of the Polish Association of the Blind. He is trying to inform the public about blind people’s problems and makes it aware of how difficult blind people’s life may be in various parts of Warsaw. Filip took part in numerous conferences in Poland and abroad, he cooperates with Radio Euro and published his text in “Maturzysta” and “Gazeta Studencka” periodicals.
| | “And who” do we support?
Warbud sponsored the charity event “Artists paint for A kogo,” which was organized by Ewa Błaszczyk Foundation. On Children’s Day at Warsaw InterContinental Hotel an auction was held at which T-shirts hand-decorated by renowned Polish painters, graphic artists and actors were sold. The income from the auction supported the construction of the “Alarm Clock Clinic” at the Children’s Health Centre hospital in Warsaw. Little patients will be treated and rehabilitated in the clinic for up to 18 months following an accident according to individual programmes elaborated jointly by doctors, rehabilitators and parents. More than 10 MPLN is needed for that purpose.

The Foundation WOŚP was set up on March 2, 1993 by Mr Jerzy Owsiak. The WOŚP final event has entered the calendar of Polish charity events for good. Every year in all Polish towns and cities there are concerts and festivals where money is collected by hundreds of volunteers present in the streets. The aim of the 15th Cosmic WOŚP Final was for the second time the saving of life of children being victims of road accidents as well as first aid trainings. The day-long money collection in which we had the pleasure to participate took place on January 14, 2007 and brought more than USD 10 million. Warbud SA was one of the donors and owners of a red golden heart which is the Foundation’s symbol.
| | EX ANIMO means from the SOUL, from the HEART, HONESTLY
In July 2006 we started cooperation with the EX ANIMO Foundation operating at the Oncology Clinic of the Children’s Health Centre in Międzylesie. The organization was set up following the initiative of duchess Maria Sapieha and prof. Danuta Perek. We regularly transfer money to the bank account of EX ANIMO which actively supports children suffering from cancer. Thanks to the collected money it was possible to buy the necessary medical equipment as well as to refurbish and equip the patient and surgery rooms at the hospital. The Foundation also finances participation in international conferences facilitating the exchange of knowledge and finding about the latest cancer therapy methods.
| | Dreams do come true
Particular attention must be drawn to our cooperation with the Foundation “Mam Marzenie” (“I Have a Dream”). Polish Foundation “Mam Marzenie,” being a link of the international movement, has fulfilled dreams of more than 600 patients of child oncology and haematology wards and hospices all around the country. We have financed 8 successful actions such as a trip to Paris, visit to Legoland in Germany, computer equipment, home cinema and DVD players. Children have various dreams. They spend a lot of their time in hospitals and need contacts with the external world, with their peers and families, then a laptop with an Internet connection od one of their most frequent dreams. They also dream about exotic travels and meetings with famous people. We are glad that we have managed to help at least some of them to make their dreams come true. .

Charity sailing races
Warbud SA team won 1st place in the T4B Cup 2006 sailing race which took place off the coast of Croatia between 17th and 22nd September 2006. The race was not only fun and a sporting rivalry, it also had its charity purpose. We were proud to hand over the Grand Prize – the equivalent of USD 10 000 to the “Krwinka” Foundation. The aim of the foundation is among others to provide extensive support to children with cancer and to help their families as well as to improve the therapeutic and accommodation conditions at their hospitals. We do hope that our victory in the race will be a valuable contribution to the fight with the illness.
