ABOUT WARBUD
KEY VALUES SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Because building can take a variety of forms, we have for many years been supporting a large number of charity organizations building hope and joy among those in need.

Worthy of particular attention is our cooperation with the “I Have a Dream” Foundation, which asked us for help in making young Danuta’s dream of a trip to Paris come true. The Polish “I Have a Dream” Foundation, part of a worldwide movement, has realized the dreams of over 550 young patients from oncology and haematology wards and hospices all over Poland. Danuta, 13, has been fighting a serious genetic illness – Marfan syndrome – since birth. The disease causes multiple skeletal deformations as well as other problems including arrhythmia, breathing difficulties and leakage of the bicuspid valve in the heart. Danuta’s 14-year-old brother Przemyslaw also suffers from Marfan syndrome. The children are brought up by their father, their mother having died several years ago from the same disease. In spite of their afflictions they remain cheerful in spirit.

Because of their difficult material situation, Danuta had never had the chance to travel before. She could only make plans and learn about the beautiful corners of the world, always dreaming about a journey to France. We helped in the realization of this dream by paying for Danuta to travel to Disneyland in Paris.

Helping the victims of the building disaster in Katowice
We were concerned with the fate of the victims of Poland’s worst-ever building disaster, which occurred on 28 January 2006 at the Katowice International Fairs site. At quarter past five, during an exhibition of homing pigeons, the roof of the main hall collapsed. At the time of the disaster there were about 700 exhibitors and visitors in the building. The roof collapse caused the deaths of 65 people, with more than 170 injured. The rescue operation involved 103 fire brigade patrols (more than 1300 persons), 230 police officers with dogs, military police units, and rescuers from the mountain and mining rescue services. Poland’s president announced a period of national mourning which lasted until February 1, and set aside special funds from his budget to aid the victims of the tragedy and their families.

Caritas Poland organised collections and asked for donations, which were distributed to the victims. Our company also gave funds for that purpose, as a mark of solidarity with those affected by this human tragedy. (certificate)
